Bio
Lindsay Kurlak Barclay is doctoral candidate in international relations, focusing on state-building, political violence, political geography, and post-war transitions. Her dissertation explores subnational variation in state reach in Algeria. She is currently a Program Manager for two grants funded through NCITE (National Counterterrorism, Innovation, and Technology Center) that focus on the effects of vicarious trauma on counterterrorism professionals as well as the efficacy of peer support programs in mitigating the effects of trauma. She serves as a Research Fellow for RIPIL (Research on International Policy Implementation Lab) where she researches the use and impact of data and evidence for decision-making across the U.S. Department of State.

Prior to joining academia, she was a development professional, with 8 years of experience implementing conflict mitigation, democratic transition, and economic development programs. Her experience includes project planning and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and technical writing for large and complex USAID-funded programs in conflict-affected countries. Previously, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco as a Small Business Development Facilitator. She has performed field-work in Pakistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Morocco.
